VJ Edgecombe will return to NBA Summer League action for the Philadelphia 76ers after the No. 3 overall draft pick missed four games due to a thumb sprain.
Well, that’s a step in the right direction, at least!
Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, will return to NBA Summer League action tonight after missing the team’s last four seasonal contests with a left thumb sprain. The Sixers are set to take on the Washington Wizards in Las Vegas at 8:30 p.m. ET. on Tuesday night.
The team announced Edgecombe’s return in a social media post.

The young guard out of Baylor made a strong first impression in his first and only Summer League contest so far—the team’s summer opener back on July 5 in Salt Lake City. Edgecombe finished that contest with 28 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal (and some trash talk). Since then, Edgecombe missing games had really taken the air out of any excitement building this offseason for the Sixers, so it’s good to see him make such a quick return.
Honestly, it’s nice to have any good news coming out of the Sixers camp right now. We are just a day removed from the surprise news of Paul George undergoing arthroscopic surgery on Monday to repair an injury he sustained in an offseason workout, according to the team. He is now set to be re-evaluated at the start of training camp. You know, just normal Sixers things!
Edgecombe and the rest of the Summer Sixers will tip off with the Wizards at 8:30 p.m. ET. on NBA Sports Philadelphia.
