The Philadelphia 76ers would like to sign Quentin Grimes to a four-year contract, but the sides are far apart on the compensation on such a deal. The Sixers instead have two standing offers to Grimes: the one-year, $8.7 million qualifying offer and also a one-year balloon payment at a higher amount where he waives his no-trade clause.
Grimes is open to a four-year deal following his breakout play with the Sixers following his trade from the Dallas Mavericks.
The Sixers and Grimes picked their contract talks back up on Wednesday ahead of the October 1st qualifying offer deadline. Grimes’ camp proposed moving deadline back to October 8th, which the Sixers are expected to reject.
Grimes and the Sixers anticipate additional talks over the week. Grimes will not attend Philadelphia’s media day on Friday and he won’t travel to the team to Abu Dhabi.
