The Philadelphia 76ers would like to re-sign big man Guerschon Yabusele. After making a successful return to the NBA, Yabusele would like to lock in some long-term security.
The 76ers are carrying Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey on max deals, and Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond and Eric Gordon are expected to opt in. The team also hopes to re-sign guard Quentin Grimes, who is coming off a breakout season. Philadelphia isn’t expected to have much to offer Yabusele to return. The Sixers will likely be operating as a tax team and dealing with apron issues this season.
Because they only have non-Bird rights for Yabusele, the most Philadelphia might be able to offer the big man is the Taxpayer MLE, which projects to be worth about $5.7 million for next season. There’s a chance another team could use the full $14.1 million Non-Taxpayer MLE or a portion of it to bring Yabusele in.
In 70 games with the 76ers last season, Yabusele averaged 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. The 29-year-old power forward shot 50% from the field, including 38% on 3.9 three-point attempts per game.
