After consulting with doctors, PG received injections for his groin and knee that will put him out for the rest of the season

Paul George’s 2024-25 season has come to an early end. On Monday, he received injections in his left adductor muscle and left knee, and the team announced he will be sidelined for at least six weeks — officially ruling him out for the rest of the season.

George spent the past week consulting with doctors on the best treatment options. The 34-year-old suffered two hyperextensions in his knee in October and November, a finger tendon injury in January and dealt with a groin ailment in recent weeks. George’s first season with the Sixers comes to a close with 41 games played, averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game, along with 2.6 turnovers. He shot 43% from the field, 35.8% from three, and 81.4% from the free-throw line.

George’s numbers this season reflect a solid but somewhat underwhelming campaign, especially considering the expectations that came with his massive four-year, $211 million contract. While his all-around contributions remained valuable in certain games, his scoring efficiency and overall production dipped considerably compared to his peak years.

It’s worth noting that George’s season was marred by injuries, including knee hyperextensions, a groin injury, and various other setbacks that limited his availability and consistency. These lingering issues not only affected his ability to stay on the court but also likely impacted his performance when he did play. Injuries have been a recurring theme in George’s career, and this season was no exception, raising concerns about his long-term durability as the Sixers look to maximize their championship window.

George now joins Joel Embiid, Jared McCain, and Eric Gordon as Sixers who have been officially shut down for the season. Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey remains sidelined with finger and back issues, though the team has hinted at a potential return in the near future. With their roster severely depleted, the Sixers’ depth will be put to the test as they ̶t̶a̶n̶k̶ fight to stay competitive down the stretch.
