Daryl Morey did it…he finally did it.
After months and months of constant speculation, the deal is done. The Sixers have acquired James Harden in a trade for Ben Simmons. The Sixers finally have the pieces needed to win a championship, and can finally move on from the Simmons drama.
James Harden and Joel Embiid immediately become the best duo in the NBA and an instant championship contender. Harden has been averaging 22.5 pts, 10.2 assists, and 8 reb a game this season for Brooklyn, all while he didnt even want to be there. The Sixers get to pair that with Joel Embiid, who is having an MVP season and is the most dominant player in the NBA. There are obviously still other teams around the league who will be competing for a championship, but with Embiid and Harden, the Sixers have to love their chances in a seven game series against anybody.
Daryl Morey did not let the fans, media, or Ben Simmons camp force him into a trade for other, lesser players. He was able to patiently wait for the right one and was able to get James Harden. Throughout this journey, I and many other were pressuring him to make a move because of the fear of wasting such an unbelievable season from Embiid, but patience was the correct option. Instead of landing C.J McCollum, Caris LeVert, De’Aaron Fox, or many of the other offers that were on the table throughout the season, the Sixers were able to get one of the most dynamic scorers in league history to pair with the talented big men in NBA history. This is the best guard-center duo in the NBA since Shaq and Kobe, but instead of being in Hollywood, this time will be happening in South Philly.
In Morey we trust, let the games begin
