Notable Player Contracts That Become Fully Guaranteed On 1/10

January 6, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

There are numerous players in the NBA whose contracts will become guaranteed on January 10. The date to watch for them though is actually January 7. This is because those players will be on waivers for 48 hours if their team decides not to allow their contract to become fully guaranteed. The player must clear waivers ahead of that January 10 date.

Here are some notable players that will see their NBA contract fully guaranteed on January 10 if they are held on to by their team.

Notable NBA Player Contracts That Become Fully Guaranteed On 1/10

Dalano Banton, Portland Trail Blazers

Traded to Portland from the Boston Celtics in February, Dalano Banton has seen a much larger role with the Trail Blazers. The 25-year-old is averaging 9.2 points and 2.5 assists in 16.1 minutes over 26 outings this season.

Ricky Council IV, Philadelphia 76ers

Undrafted in 2023, Ricky Council IV has mostly remained in Philadelphia’s rotation this season. The 23-year-old has played in 26 games in 2024-25 after appearing in 32 as a rookie in 2023-24. He is averaging 5.6 points and 2.2 rebounds on the year.

Jae Crowder, Sacramento Kings

Signed by the Kings in late November, Jae Crowder actually started his first two games with his new team. After also appearing in the next three, Crowder has now just played in one of Sacramento’s last 12 contests. The 13-year veteran has shot 6-17 from the field during his brief playing time (3-12 from three-point range).

Talen Horton-Tucker, Chicago Bulls

A little-used member of the Los Angeles Lakers 2020 championship team, Talen Horton-Tucker made the Bulls roster after signing an Exhibit 10 deal. The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging 6.2 points in his 29 outings while shooting 37.1% from beyond the arc (career 29.3% entering the season).

Andre Jackson Jr., Milwaukee Bucks

The 36th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Andre Jackson Jr. has been a regular starter for Milwaukee since mid-November. The 23-year-old is a low-usage player (averaging just 3.7 points) but provides effort on the defensive end of the floor.

Keon Johnson, Brooklyn Nets

Selected 21st overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Keon Johnson has been in the starting lineup for each of the Nets last 14 contests. In those starts, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard has posted averages of 10.7 points and 4.1 rebounds (shooting just 35.7% from the field, 27.7% from three-point range).

Sam Merrill, Cleveland Cavaliers

Sam Merrill was on the Bucks 2021 championship team. He has seen his minutes rise in each of his first five seasons, including a career-high 19.2 this season. He is averaging 7.0 points per contest, and 151 of his 173 shot-attempts have been three-pointers.

Lindy Waters III, Golden State Warriors

Now in his fourth season, Lindy Waters III started seven straight outings for Golden State in mid-to-late November. He had a 21-point outing against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 29 and shot 6-7 from the field on Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Jaylin Williams, Oklahoma City Thunder

It is safe to say that the Thunder haven’t even given a second thought as to whether they should have Jaylin Williams’ contract become guaranteed. Williams recently returned from injury, and he has averaged 12.4 minutes in his seven games since returning. The 22-year-old has attempted 26 three-pointers, and just three shots from inside of the arc.

Jalen Wilson, Brooklyn Nets

The reigning Summer League MVP, Jalen Wilson is playing 27 minutes per game over 34 outings. He is averaging 9.3 points and had the most productive outing of his brief career on December 27 (21 points, 10 rebounds). Wilson was the 53rd overall pick by Brooklyn in the 2023 NBA Draft.
