The Philadelphia 76ers are less than 24 hours removed from a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers that saw multiple Sixers picking up injuries to add to the already long list of casualties this season.
A lengthy injury report for the Philadelphia 76ers, what else is new?
The team posted their availabilities for Tuesday night’s contest visiting the Minnesota Timberwolves and, well, it’s about as ugly as you’re probably expecting.
As expected, a lengthy injury report for the Sixers tonight.

In addition to Joel Embiid and Jared McCain, who are both out for the remainder of the season, there are a slew of other injuries plaguing the Sixers as they crawl towards the sweet release of the end of this season. Tyrese Maxey (back sprain), Eric Gordon (wrist) and Kyle Lowry (hip) are also all out. Justin Edwards (ankle sprain), Paul George (groin soreness) and Quentin Grimes (bicep soreness) are all questionable. Jalen Hood-Schifino is listed as out (two-way contract). Kelly Oubre Jr. is probable after missing Monday night’s contest hosting the Portland Trail Blazers due to illness.
Speaking of that Trail Blazers game, as if the Sixers weren’t already in an ugly situation to end this season, it got even worse Monday night. Maxey sustained the back injury in a fall in the third period and exited the contest after he was already dealing with a nagging finger injury to begin with. Edwards sprained (well, re-sprained the same ankle he previously sprained in practice) his ankle in the fourth. By the end of the game, even Mike Tirico (guest commentating for Kate Scott) was noting that the Sixers might struggle to even have enough players for Tuesday after Monday’s mishaps.
The Sixers are 21-39 going into Tuesday’s contest and are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference. They are two and a half games behind the Chicago Bulls for a spot in the Play-In Tournament, should the franchise be pushing for that for some insane reason. They are also currently tied for sixth-worst record in the NBA. If they were to finish the season in this position (with no ties), they would have a 45.8% chance of holding on to their first-round draft pick (protected for picks 1 through 6).
Certainly makes one wonder if the Sixers plan on shifting to a more conservative approach with players going into these final weeks of the season… though, based on recent patterns, I won’t hold my breath.
