Joel Embiid is listed as questionable while Paul George remains out for the Sixers’ matchup vs. the new-look Mavericks.
Well, at least some members of the Sixers are getting healthier.
Nick Nurse informed reporters that all players on the roster — with the exception of rookie Jared McCain, who is out for the season — practiced Monday.
With a game against the new-look Dallas Mavericks coming up on Tuesday, we have the initial report:
- Joel Embiid (left knee injury management), who’s played in just 13 games this season and missed his 14th straight game this past Sunday, is listed as questionable.
- Paul George (left finger extensor tendon strain), who’s played in just 30 games this season and has missed the last four, is listed as out
- Caleb Martin (right hip strain), who’s played in just 31 games this season and has missed the last 12 games, is listed as questionable.
- Andre Drummond (left toe injury recovery), who’s played in just 28 games this season and has played just three times in the last 21 games, is listed as questionable.
- KJ Martin (left foot stress reaction), who’s played in just 24 games this season and hasn’t played since Dec. 23, is listed as questionable
- Eric Gordon (left knee soreness), who has been mostly durable and played very well in the month of January, is listed as questionable after missing Sunday’s contest.
Progress! (I guess.)
The rest of the Sixers have been figuring out how to play with each other. They had a recent four-game win streak snapped, suffering back-to-back heartbreaking losses to the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics, but players like Guerschon Yabusele, Justin Edwards and Ricky Council IV have played massive roles.
Tyrese Maxey has been noticeably brilliant as of late. Over his last 24 games, Maxey is averaging over 30 points and six assists per game while shooting 46.4% from the field and 37.8% from three (9.9 attempts). Maxey might or might not have been an All-Star snub, but he definitely got hosed on Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors. He lost out to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell after Maxey posted 37.3 points and 6.3 assists per game.
The Sixers will take on a Mavericks team that’s … going through it. Newcomers Anthony Davis and Max Christie were initially both listed as questionable with a “trade pending” designation. Davis has now been ruled out. He’s missed the past three games after suffering an abdominal strain against the Sixers last week. Christie is available. Dereck Lively II and Dwight Powell remain out.
The two teams will tip off at 7 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center Tuesday night.
