Despite being unable to participate in the weekend’s events, Jared McCain was able to tick off another achievement.
For the first time since the 2016-17 season, the Sixers did not have a participant in All-Star weekend. Also like 2017, their lone selection to the Rising Stars’ game was unable to compete due to a torn meniscus.
Being ruled out for the remainder of the season did not stop Jared McCain from attending the weekend’s festivities. Upon his arrival in San Francisco, McCain made it clear he didn’t know what to expect but had a goal for himself: meet Steph Curry.

This isn’t the first time the two have met — a video of McCain in high school at one of Curry’s camps asking for advice has made the rounds as McCain has broken into the league. They were able to connect again, this time as two NBA players being honored at the weekend.

There could be more McCain produced content during the weekend as he was seen with his camera on the sidelines during the dunk contest. It’s typical for all the observing players to film the night’s events, though none frequently vlog as much as McCain. Hopefully he caught another cool angle of Mac McClung soaring over a car for everyone to enjoy in a couple weeks.
Players couldn’t BELIEVE Mac McClung’s 1st dunk…

That just goes to show how much has changed in the last eight years. The last Sixers’ rising star who had to take everything in from the bench was Joel Embiid. He famously documented his night on X however, rather than in vlog form. This really has become a zoomer’s league.
Not only was McCain likely working on his own YouTube channel, but the NBA had him on the clock as well. He was interviewing several other rising stars during the weekend’s many media availabilities. The Sixers’ social media team caught his full interview with Orlando Magic rookie Tristan de Silva.

McCain obviously couldn’t compete for his Rising Stars team, Team C, that ended up making it all the way to the All-Star game. Part of his goals though are that this is not the only time he is able to attend All-Star weekend.
