The Sixers’ big man had a fun NFL fan experience as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated Josh Harris’ Washington Commanders.
Many Philadelphia fans remember their first in-person NFL experience. Maybe you were up with the bleacher creatures in the 700 Level of the Vet. Or perhaps you younger folks snagged cheap tickets to watch third stringers duke it out during a preseason game at Lincoln Financial Field. Regardless, it’s probably hard to top what Sixers big man Guerschon Yabusele experienced for his first football game, the Philadelphia Eagles’ 55-23 shellacking of Josh Harris’ Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.

Yabusele, who is built like a guy that could wreak havoc at defensive end or protect Jalen Hurts’ blindside, does have an interest in American football, as he told our Gordie Jones.
I love that he isn’t in some suite, just out there in the stands blending in with everyone else. Man of the people. Although I feel a little bad for whoever had to sit behind a 6-foot-8 walking tank. Whatever, even a slightly obstructed view of Saquon Barkley spinning defenders in circles is worth it.
Yabu certainly seemed to be getting in the spirit of things. One game in and he has the Eagles fight song down much better than Philadelphia mayor Cherelle Parker.

After the win, Yabusele is retweeting Jalen Hurts stats on his timeline. (Bangs table) One of us. One of us. Obviously, we don’t need any additional reasons to root for the Eagles to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. But if the Birds can complete the journey and hoist this year’s Lombardi trophy, maybe it’s the icing on the cake to convince new Eagles superfan Guerschon Yabusele to re-sign with the Sixers this offseason.
And if not, if I had to choose one member of the Sixers organization to be happy after walking out of the Linc Sunday night, I sure am glad it was Yabu.
