Everyone Thinks Kawhi Leonard Took Shot At Paul George

July 11, 2024 by The Spun

Kawhi Leonard did all he could to recruit Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers when he moved there in 2019 but aside from one trip to the Conference Finals in 2021, the two didn’t accomplish much.

With George now off to Philadelphia and joining the 76ers, Kawhi is staying behind as the main start for the team. But in a recent interview, he seemed to take a somewhat subtle dig at George – or at least, that’s what people believe.

Speaking to the media, Kawhi addressed how much it falls on him to lead the team. Kawhi’s blunt response was “the same like it was last year” and “it don’t change.”

“How much will be on me to lead the team? The same like it was last year. It don’t change,” he said, via Justin Russo.

Fans immediately went to town on that quote, with some pointing out that this was always the case and others criticizing George for not being more of a leader:

“This was a dumb question. PG was never a leader. EVER. RUSS was more of the leader. But the team follows Kawhi. When he is healthy and on the court there r few better,” one user declared.

“Anyone who thought Paul George was providing leadership hasn’t been paying attention,” another wrote.

“Hahaha Whi dgaf bro, I love it ahah,” wrote a third.

It seems like the two won’t really be missing each other now that they’re apart.
