Veteran shooting guard Danny Green is typically on the receiving end of criticism from fans. But Green dished it back out to the fans during his recent podcast interview.
During an appearance on a new episode of the Takeoff with John Clark podcast, Green blasted Philadelphia 76ers fans for how they treat their own players. Regardless of how well Philly may be playing, Sixers fans tend to boo the players for one or two bad plays.
“I love our fans, but when things aren’t going well, they can’t turn on you,” Green said, via NBC Sports. “That’s the one thing I would disagree with or dislike. Some guys use it as motivation, some guys have a chip on their shoulder, but I think that needs to change. They need to be riding with us, regardless of how things are going.”
Philadelphia sports fans are known for their heated passion, but sometimes they take things too far. Green thinks such a culture needs to change for the Sixers to get over the hump and make a championship run in years to come.
“We’re the No. 1 team in the East, still playing well, and in some games they’ll boo us – that’s part of the culture here, part of their way of showing they love us – but with a guy like Ben, and other guys, I think they need to stick behind them and stick by them as long as they can, until the horn blows,” Green continued.

Danny Green probably has a point here. Sixers fans definitely have a tendency to turn on their own team more often than most other team’s fans.
It’s worth mentioning Green has played for several teams throughout his NBA career. He never had anything bad to say about the Spurs, Raptors or Lakers.
